So, we will remain in black for the rest of the season.
He does though.
The proviso being its a player that he wants.
If that player is not available, heíd rather wait until he was rather than going for option B or C which Rodgers used to do.
Lemar and getting Keita in early are our priorities.
Both want to come in January but Monaco and Leipzig are playing hardball, knowing we have £142m in our pocket.

What the reliable journos are saying over the past day.

Player very keen on #LFC. Monaco no plans to sell in Jan. However, we may see a deal agreed for the summer this month - Ben Smith

Liverpool to test Monaco's resolve over Thomas Lemar transfer with January bid | @johncrossmirror

Monaco are making it clear that they do not want to sell Lemar in January but Liverpool are ready to test their resolve given any encouragement. Lemar is keen on making a switch to Liverpool despite interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. (@johncrossmirror)

Liverpool will not be held to ransom in January and will not panic if they cannot get a deal done as Klopp believes he already has the talent in his squad for the rest of the campaign. (@johncrossmirror)

Liverpool will continue to monitor developments on Lemar and if they cannot get him now then they are confident of getting him in the summer. (@johncrossmirror)

Liverpool are using the next few days to consider how strongly to pursue their options in the transfer market as they look to replace Philippe Coutinho. (@LivEchoLFC)

Thomas Lemar is believed to be at the top of Liverpool’s list of potential Coutinho replacements. However, Monaco have no intention of selling him midway through the current campaign, so the 22-year-old could become a recruit they chase in the summer. (@LivEchoLFC)

Liverpool are not on the verge of signing Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez. The ECHO understands no approach has been made. (@LivEchoLFC)

No offer has been made for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and, while Klopp will have received assurances Liverpool will react in the event of a target becoming a feasible option, it seems Lallana, alongside Salah, Firmino, Manť & Oxlade-Chamberlain will take the strain. (Paul Joyce)

Well respected German media outlet, Kicker - suggest Goretzka still hasn't made his mind up yet...

Liverpool will attempt to bring Naby Keita’s move to Anfield forward in an attempt to fill the void left by Philippe Coutinho’s £142 million move to Barcelona, writes @_ChrisBascombe

RB Leipzig are determined to retain Keita as they seek to qualify for next year’s Champions League, but Liverpool would be willing to pay more again to get him this month. (Chris Bascombe)

Keita would rather join Liverpool this month with Leipzig eliminated from the Champions League. If he cannot be secured, Klopp may wait until the summer. However he is keeping all options open. (Chris Bascombe)

Klopp has £142m folllowing the sale of Philippe Coutinho - all of which is available to spend on new recruits. Klopp is ready to move for long-term targets if there is a realistic chance he can get them now. (Chris Bascombe)

JŁrgen Klopp will only sign a replacement if the right player becomes available this month and wants to bring forward KeÔta’s £57 million move from RB Leipzig which is presently scheduled to come into effect on July 1. (Paul Joyce)

The controversy surrounding the leaked Nike advert, which appeared on websites last Saturday offering Barcelona shirts bearing Coutinho’s name, is understood to have resulted in a change of the terms of the British record deal. (Paul Joyce)

Liverpool would love Naby Keita to come now and are willing to pay Leipzig a premium on top of the £55million fee. Keita, 22, is understood to be keen to move now, but Leipzig will take much persuading, writes @MirrorAnderson

Leipzig are not keen to let Keita go now at such a critical stage of their Bundesliga campaign. Liverpool understand their reservations and ultimately they will be prepared to wait until July 1 when the African midfielder is officially due to join. (@MirrorAnderson)

The Reds are reviewing all of their long-term targets following Coutinho’s departure and will move this month if any become available. However they are adamant they will not be held to ransom with their transfer budget set to be transformed by Coutinho’s fee. (@MirrorAnderson)

@Chris78Williams: Leipzig are not open to letting Naby Keita leave during this window. Europa League challenges and a quest for Champions League qualification through the #Bundesliga far outweigh the departure of any key player in January.

RB Leipzig’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff : Neither Naby nor his advisor have expressed a desire to leave the club in the winter. There are contracts. And they say his employment starts in Liverpool on July 1st.”

Paul Joyce: #Klopp will have faith in his squad, he has a lot of players but I'm not sure if he'll want to spend now. He may go with what he's got now.

FSG have spent £635m in 8 years of ownership and Liverpool only have 1 League Cup to show for it.
FSG since their first transfer window in January 2011, when they sold Babel & Torres and bought Carroll & Suarez, to this January transfer windows sale of Coutinho in 2018, which is a total of 15 transfer windows under FSGs ownership.

They have spent £635m on Players Purchases.
Recouping £522. 7m from Player’s Sales, with a Net Spend of just £112.2 million.
This equates to £14m per season, or £7.4m per transfer window.
-YEAR--Players Bought-----Players Sold-------Net Spend.
2017-18 £155.000m----------£187.000m-----+£32.000m Profit.
2016-17 - £67.900m ---------- £74.360m ------ +£6.460m Profit.
2015-16 - £82.600m --------- -£69.400m ----- £13.200m.
2014-15 £117.000m ---------- £78.620m ----- £38.380m.
2013-14 - £48.800m ---------- £28.500m ----- £20.300m.
2012-13 - £49.300m ---------- £8.000m ------- £41.300m.
2011-12 - £56.400m ---------- £21.050m ----- £35.350m.
2010-11 - £58.000m ---------- £55.800m ----- --£2.200m.
TOTAL - £635.000m --------- £522.730m --- £112.270m.
= £14.033m per season or £7.484m per transfer window.

It’s becoming a trend for Liverpool to lose key and top players to our biggest rivals in European football –
1999-00 - McManaman to Real Madrid – (Free transfer).
2001-02 – Fowler to Leeds Utd. (Rival at that time)
2004-05 - Owen to Real Madrid – (Free transfer).
2009-10 - Arbeloa to Real Madrid.
2009-10 - Alonso to Real Madrid.
2010-11 - Mascherano to Barcelona.
2010-11 - Benayoun to Chelsea.
2010-11 - Torres to Chelsea.
2011-12 - Meireles to Chelsea.
2014-15 - Reina to Bayern Munich.
2014-15 - Suarez to Barcelona.
2015-16 - Sterling to Man City.
2015-16 - Gerrard to LA Galaxy (Not a rival) but forced.
2017-18 - Coutinho to Barcelona
2018-19 - Can probably to Juventus? – (Free transfer).

10 of these 15 players lost from 1999 to 2018, were under FSGs watch, and if we look at the quality we once had, that has been sold or moved on to get them off the wage bill under FSG, with player’s like –
Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, Sakho, Aurelio, Maxi, Meireles, Adam, Lucas, Shelvey, Babel, Gerrard, Sterling, Bellamy, Kuyt, Torres and Suarez, with Coutinho now and Emre Can to follow at the end of the season.

Now we can see why we are not winning trophies anymore, but do we blame losing our very best players to our European rivals, because they want to win trophies, and the fear of going their entire career at Liverpool without a Winners Medal, with 1 League Cup in the last 10 years proof of that, and one of many reasons why they want to go, if these very successful rival teams come in for them.

Do we honestly believe in our hearts that FSG would pay upto £66m for Keita and £75m for Van Dijk if they were not going to sell Coutinho.

"Managing Liverpool? Yes for sure, I have dreamt of that." - Alonso

"If I decide somewhere along the way to take my chances as a manager, my link, my commitment, my passion with Liverpool is there."

"Why not? We will see if we can cross paths in our ways."

"I think that Stevie will go earlier than me for sure, it's the natural way."

We have apparently got Keita in 6 months early.
Will be announced Sunday.
Probably won’t play against City, but surely the game after.

Klopp has dismissed these suggestions.

Also said: "We will get all the money...One player has left and itís not too cool but itís not a real problem at all. We will bring in other players, thatís for sure. If we do it in this window, I donít know."

We will see.

The hint was that Naby has just joined a company in the UK as a director.

However, RB Leipzig are currently 5th in the Bundesliga and they are also playing in the Europa League. It doesn't make any sense for them to release him early.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42649775 (11 January)

£18m is a kind of insurance premium for saving him from injury whilst playing in high intensity games in the second half of the season (so, better bring him home). This was probably a factor in the Coutinho sale as well.
