Master Card - PIN is not required
Meastro - PIN required
Visa - PIN is not required
Visa Electron - PIN required

Both companies have both type of cards... you have to select the card while applying... PIN required cards will be charged annually, depends on the bank...

who told you this? earlier i was having visa electron of HDFC bank, then switched to Maestro. After receiving when i transacted at some POS, it was asking for PIN

never been a Citi customer

used hsbc , hdfc , bob , indian , sbi , icici - among this only sbi offers mastero card by default and others give visa by default

in sbi visa card can be obtained upon request

i was always asked for PIN while using sbi cards , thats why i had stopped using sbi cards in restaurants

I am an ATM Engineer. The Cards which need a pin are simple debit cards. But in VISA cards you don't require pin by swipe in POS at shopping. It is already encrypte your data in POS and send to your BANK's server.
